My enthusiasm for the ocean and outdoors extends well beyond my professional work.  I love to fish, dive, hike, ski, and climb whenever I can.  I also love to travel, and visit inspiring new places.  I am a novice photographer (see some examples below!), and a casual musician.

I also am passionate about education and teaching, especially science education and especially with kids!  I recently wrote a time-traveling climate change adventure story for middle-school age kids.
